Import Shipments
Make sure you complete the Japan Customs Declaration Form C-5360 to avoid possible duties and taxes. You can obtain these in the aircraft or in the baggage claim area at the airport. 2 copies must be filled out and presented at Customs. The Customs official will stamp both copies and return one of them to you. Please forward this copy to us so that we can arrange for Customs clearance for your belongings.
Prohibited Items
The following items may not be imported to Japan:- Pornography;
- Narcotics;
- Exotic Animal Hides;
- Guns, bullets, swords & knives with blades longer than 15cm, weapons;
- Counterfeit, altered or imitation bank notes, coins, bills, etc;
- Plants, trees, and vegetables with soil
Duty-Free Allowances
- Alcohol - Limited to 3 bottles (750ml) per person over 20 years of age. Excess duty
is roughly:
- Whisky & Brandy - ¥500 per liter or ¥375 per 750ml bottle;
- Rum, Gin, Vodka & other spirits - ¥400 per liter or ¥300 per 750ml bottle;
- Liqueur - ¥300 per liter or ¥225 per 750ml bottle;
- Wine & Beer - ¥200 per liter or ¥70 per 350ml can;
- Tobacco - 400 cigarettes or 100 cigars or 500 grams of other kinds of tobacco. If there is more than one kind, the total allowance is 500 grams;
- Perfume - 2oz of unopened bottles. Opened & used bottles are not counted
Export Shipments
For Customs clearance on outgoing shipments, Japanese Customs require a photocopy of the shipper's passport, and evidence of departure from Japan in the form of an air ticket or travel itinerary. We will arrange these and all other required documentation with you before you depart. Leave it to us!
